PAUL Holleran marked his 700th game in charge of Leamington with an impressive 3-0 home win against Hitchin Town.

Holleran’s side moved back into the play-off places after veteran striker Tyrone Barnett netted a brace before Ewan Williams completed the scoring at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.

And Holleran insists he is still enjoying his time in the dugout after taking the managerial reigns at the Brakes back in November 2009.

Holleran said: “It’s crept up on me, there were a lot of longstanding managers about when I was younger, it’s just the world we live in now.

“It’s lovely, I really appreciate all the fans, the effort and the people of Leamington who have made it a special day.

“It’s good for people to realise there’s more than the Premier League, Leamington are one of hundreds of clubs that do some great work in their area for communities and schools.

“Non-league football offers a lot and I’m just glad to be part of it, how many I’ll get to I’m not sure but I’m still enjoying it at the moment.”

Leamington broke the deadlock on 39 minutes when Barnett headed Dan Meredith’s cross from the right into the bottom right corner from six-yards out.

And the Brakes eventually sealed the points three minutes into injury time in the second half as Barnett found the bottom left corner from the penalty spot after Meredith drew a foul in the box.

Holleran’s men struck again two minutes later as Meredith broke free down the right before cutting the ball back to Edwards who volleyed home from eight-yards out.

The result means the Brakes sit fifth in the Southern League Premier Central table, inside the play-off places on goal difference with a game in-hand on closest challengers Stratford Town.

Leamington are next in action at home to Coalville Town on Tuesday, March 19 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
