A LATE own goal earned Racing Club Warwick a point in a 2-2 draw with bottom-of-the-table Hinckley LRFC.
Hinckley’s Michael Armstrong put through his own net in the 97th minute after earlier opening the scoring from the penalty spot at Townsend Meadow.
That came after Ashley Sammons initially drew Warwick level direct from a corner only for Liam Read to put Hinckley back in front before half time.
The result means the Racers sit 15th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, three points above the relegation zone.
Basement club Hinckley broke the deadlock on 10 minutes as Armstrong sent Sam Lomax the wrong way from the penalty spot after James Hancocks fouled Aaron Nuttall in the box.
Warwick drew level on 26 minutes when Sammons’ corner from the left went all the way in despite the best efforts of a Hinckley player to clear the ball off the line.
The visitors restored their lead 10 minutes later as Read produced a clinical finish across goal via the aid of the post from the right-hand side of the penalty area.
Warwick sent goalkeeper Lomax up for a series of corners at the death and the ball somehow ended up in the Hinckley net following an almighty scramble in the box.
Racing Club Warwick are next in action away at Grantham Town on Saturday, October 26 with kick-off at 3pm at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium.
