LEAMINGTON slipped to a 2-0 defeat against South Shields in the club’s first home game of the season.

Goals either side of half time from Cedwyn Scott and Paul Blackett condemned the Brakes to defeat at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.

And the result means Leamington sit 20th in the National League North table.

The visitors broke the deadlock on 36 minutes as debutant Scott tapped home a low cross from the left from close range.

And South Shields doubled their lead six minutes after the break when Blackett headed home Daniel Dodds’ cross from the left.

Leamington are next in action against Peterborough Sports on Tuesday, August 19 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Lincoln Road.
