LEAMINGTON conceded deep into injury time to draw 2-2 with Alfreton Town as the Brakes were denied victory at the death.
The Brakes came from behind to lead with four minutes left to play as Ant Lynn marked his full debut with a goal after teeing up George Ward for the equaliser at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
However, Jed Abbey struck five minutes into time added on to rescue a point for the visitors after David Moyo opened the scoring early in the second period.
The result means Leamington sit 12th in the National League North table after three matches.
Alfreton almost stunned the Brakes early on as Moyo forced Callum Hawkins into a save at his near post before George Cantrill headed wide from the resulting corner.
At the other end, Cally Stewart headed straight at Alfreton goalkeeper George Willis before the visitors hooked Ewan Williams’ looping header to safety.
Soon after, Henry Landers fired narrowly over the crossbar while Willis comfortably saved Dan Meredith’s header and Moyo nodded wide at the other end in a goalless first half.
Brakes stopper Hawkins made a superb save to keep out Adam Lund’s thunderbolt at the start of the second half before Adam Walker headed the same player’s header off the line moments later.
However, Alfreton made their pressure count on 49 minutes when Moyo finished from virtually on the goalline after Lund headed the ball across the face of goal.
Leamington equalised 10 minutes later as Ward curled a fine effort into the top corner from the left to level up the game.
And Ward almost completed the turnaround moments later only to head against the crossbar from a corner from close range.
The Brakes eventually took the lead on 86 minutes when Willis could only parry Stewart’s low effort through a crowd of bodies into the path of Lynn who smashed home.
However, Alfreton snatched a point at the death when Lund’s long throw caused chaos in the penalty area and Abbey applied the finishing touch.
Leamington are next in action away at Darlington on Saturday, August 24 with kick-off at 3pm at Blackwell Meadows.
