MAX Brogan scored his second goal in as many games as Leamington battled to a 1-1 draw away at Chorley in midweek.
Brogan cancelled out Anjola Popoola’s early opener at Victory Park as the Brakes ended their six-game losing run on the road.
And the result means Leamington remain bottom of the National League North table, 12 points from safety.
The Brakes made the worst possible start when Popoola broke the deadlock after just seven minutes when he poked home from close range following a long throw from the right.
However, Leamington equalised three minutes later as Brogan drove a low shot through a crowd of bodies and into the net after Miro Pais saw his effort cleared off the line.
The Brakes continued to threaten as Owen Farmer flashed a dangerous ball across the face of the Chorley goal.
Torrential conditions made for a difficult playing surface as the referee handed out five yellow cards in a scrappy first period.
Chorley almost reclaimed the lead before the break when a harmless cross hit a Brakes defender and went narrowly wide.
And another cross then his goalscorer Popoola as Leamington goalkeeper Rogan Ravenhill pounced on the loose ball.
Chorley continued to press in the second period as Ravenhill smothered Harry Ibbitson’s close-range effort.
The away side’s only real chance of the second period fell to substitute Frank Tattum who stabbed the ball wide from close range.
The game’s final chance saw Max Wilson volley the ball towards goal only for Ravenhill to make a comfortable save at the Brakes picked up their first point on the road since October.
Leamington are next in action against Oxford City on Saturday, February 7 with kick-off at 3pm at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.
