LEAMINGTON edged out 10-man Rushall Olympic following a narrow defeat away at Darlington.

Goals from Adam Walker and Will Shorrock put the Brakes in command against Rushall only for Liam McAlinden to reduce the deficit while Brad Bood saw red for the visitors as Leamington claimed a 2-1 win at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.

That came after the Brakes lost 1-0 at Darlington as Will Hatfield scored the game’s only goal at Blackwell Meadows.

The results mean Leamington sit 12th in the National League North table.

Against Rushall, the Brakes broke the deadlock on 18 minutes when Walker sent a superb outside of the foot volley past Paul White in the Rushall goal from Rob Evans’ long throw.

And Paul Holleran’s side doubled their lead on 32 minutes as former Rushall man Shorrock rounded his marker before firing home.

Rushall halved the deficit on 52 minutes when McAlinden turned home Bood’s cross at the back post.

However, the visitors lost Bood to a red card on 69 minutes after he received a second yellow card for pulling back Cally Stewart as he advanced towards goal.

Brakes goalkeeper Callum Hawkins made a late save to deny Gerry McDonagh as the home side held on to claim the points.

That came after Holleran’s men slipped to a narrow defeat at Darlington as Hatfield’s acrobatic effort found the bottom right corner with the Brakes unable to find an equaliser.

Leamington are next in action away at Marine on Saturday, August 31 with kick-off at 3pm at Rossett Park.
