LEAMINGTON recorded just their second pre-season victory with a 1-0 win against Halesowen Town thanks to Dan Turner’s second-half goal.
Turner scored the game’s only goal with a tidy finish to deservedly hand Leamington victory at The Grove.
And Turner had the first chance of the game when his header was saved by Halesowen goalkeeper Daniel Whitehouse.
The Brakes thought they had broken the deadlock when Theo Streete rose highest from Ben Usher-Shipway’s corner and found the top corner only for the referee to blow for a foul in the box and rule out the goal.
Leamington’s dominance continued when Turner was again denied by Whitehouse before Usher-Shipway sent a curling effort wide.
Halesowen’s best chance of the half fell to Simeon Cobourne who was sent through on goal only to slow an effort wide of Trialist A’s post in the Leamington goal.
And Trialist A won the individual battle again before the half was out when Cobourne shot straight at the keeper when one-on-one.
Leamington were eventually rewarded when Turner opened the scoring early in the second half as he coolly lifted the ball over Whitehouse after using his pace to beat the Halesowen keeper to a through ball despite appearing second favourite in the foot race.
Chances were few and far between after the goal with Cobourne denied for a third time by Trialist A before the Brakes keeper made a superb late save from close range to preserve the win.
Leamington complete their pre-season schedule away at Stratford Town on Saturday, July 30 with kick-off at 3pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
