LEAMINGTON ended a miserable campaign with a 4-1 defeat away at play-off bound Buxton on the final day of the season.

The Brakes kept themselves in the contest when Max Brogan found the net in first-half injury time at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium after Connor Kirby and Will Trueman put the home side in command.

And further goals from Johnny Johnston and Luke Brennan after the break sealed the points and a play-off place for Buxton as the Brakes brought an end to their two-year stay in the division.

Leamington finish the season bottom of the National League North table on 29 points, some 23 points from safety after winning just seven of their 46 league matches this term.

Buxton broke the deadlock on 11 minutes when Kirby’s free-kick deflected past a wrong-footed Eddie Brearey in the Leamington net.

And the home side doubled their lead on 37 minutes as Trueman curled a shot beyond Brearey following a flowing move on the edge of the Leamington box.

However, the visitors halved the deficit moments before the break as Brogan lashed a shot into the top corner from distance to move into double figures for the season.

Buxton restored their two-goal lead four minutes after the interval when Johnston forced a shot past Brearey who could not keep the shot out.

And the home side sealed the points on 61 minutes as Brennan’s strike ended the game as a contest.

Brakes boss Scott Easterlow introduced goalkeeper Jacob Humphries from the bench for a National League North debut late on as Leamington’s league campaign ended in defeat.

Leamington play Tamworth in the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup on Thursday, April 30 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Bescot Stadium.
