LEAMINGTON have confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Callum Hawkins in a blow to Paul Holleran’s side ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Hawkins initially joined the club on loan from Burton Albion in February 2022 before later completing a permanent move to the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
The 25-year-old made 132 appearances for the club and recorded a clean sheet in the Southern League Premier Central play-off final in 2023/24.
He bounced back from an ACL injury in February 2023 to help the Brakes return to the National League North at the first attempt.
However, he has now made the difficult decision to leave club in favour of a move to a team based closer to his Rotherham home.
Hawkins said: “Thank you for welcoming this young lad form Rotherham with his family and making us feel at home.
“What a wild ride it has been, from the heartbreak of the relegation after my ACL injury to the delight of the play-off final win.
“There hasn’t been a single moment I haven’t loved.
“I’m so grateful the gaffer took a punt on me after watching a Birmingham Senior Cup game on a cold night in Nuneaton.
“After 132 games later, I think we could say that this risk paid off.
“Thank you to everyone involved with the club for my time here over the past four years.
“There are so many amazing people involved in and around the club that both my family and I are proud to call friends.
“To all the management, players, staff, volunteers and all the fans, thank you for everything. I love you all from the bottom of my heart.”
Brakes boss, Paul Holleran added: “Obviously we are disappointed to announce that sadly Callum Hawkins will be moving on.
“Since he first joined us on loan from Burton he has been fantastic for us from the minute he stepped through the door – even throughout a difficult period for him personally with his ACL injury, when he and his family were so supportive of the club.
“He is a great kid and I have loved working with him. He and his teammates have received great backing from his family, and they will all be sorely missed.
“I always knew this day would come eventually, but due to the distance and the length of time commuting from his home in the north, Callum has decided to look for a club closer to where he is based. We wish him all the best.”
