CALLY Stewart’s late goal helped Leamington maintain their perfect start to pre-season with a 2-1 win at Stratford Town.
Stewart scored the winner five minutes from time after Ewan Williams opened the scoring in the first half at the Arden Garages Stadium.
After a slow start, the Brakes broke the deadlock on 23 minutes when Will Shorrock squared the ball to Williams who produced a calm finish after winning back possession inside the Stratford penalty area.
However, Stratford equalised on the hour mark when Chris Hussey’s free-kick found the top corner, beating substitute goalkeeper James Dadge in the Leamington goal.
Both teams had chances to win the game before Stewart finished through the legs of Bards goalkeeper Callum Smith from Henry Landers’ pass.
