LEAMINGTON limped out of the FA Cup following a 3-0 defeat at lower-division Alvechurch in second round qualifying.

A nine-minute hat-trick from Jose Marquez saw the Brakes, who play one level above Church, exit the competition at the first hurdle at Lye Meadow.

After a goalless first half, Alvechurch broke the deadlock on 72 minutes when Marquez lobbed the ball over Leamington goalkeeper Rogan Ravenhill.

And Marquez struck again six minutes later as he headed Jonathan Ngandu’s corner from the right into the net to double his tally for the game.

The Forest Green Rovers loanee completed his hat-trick on 82 minutes when he jinked his way into the box and drilled a low shot into the bottom right corner to leave the visitors stunned.

Paul Holleran’s side had a chance to reduce the deficit late on from the penalty spot.

However, Alvechurch goalkeeper Redman Evans saved Ant Lynn’s penalty to compound Leamington’s misery.

Leamington are next in action against AFC Fylde on Saturday, September 20 with kick-off at 3pm at Mill Farm.
