LEAMINGTON slumped to the bottom of the National League North table following a 1-0 home defeat against Marine.
The Brakes remain without a win for more than two months as Adam Anson’s early goal heaped more misery on Paul Holleran’s side at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.
And the result means Leamington now prop up the National League North table, two points from safety and winless in their last 10 matches in all competitions.
The Brakes started on the front foot as Marine goalkeeper Fraser Barnsley punched Dan Meredith’s dangerous cross to safety.
At the other end, Brakes stopper Rogan Ravenhill pushed a free-kick from distance behind for a corner.
And Marine broke the deadlock on 10 minutes when Anson cleverly headed Finlay Sinclair-Smith’s cross from the left into the right corner of the goal at the near post.
Ravenhill then comfortably claimed Anjola Popoola’s tame effort while Tim Berridge flashed a shot across the face of goal at the other end.
Marine spurned a golden chance to double their lead when former Coventry City defender Declan Drysdale looped a header over the crossbar from close range.
The visitors went close again after the break as Samuel Fielding saw his audacious effort from inside his own half travel narrowly wide of the post.
Ravenhill then comfortable held Harvey Gregson’s shot before Odin Samuels-Smith blazed an effort over the crossbar from a tight angle.
The Brakes pushed for an equaliser in six minutes of injury time but could not find a way through as results elsewhere saw the home side slip to the bottom of the table.
Leamington are next in action against Maidenhead United in the FA Trophy on Saturday, November 15 with kick-off at 3pm at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.
