LEAMINGTON suffered a second successive 1-0 defeat away at Royston Town as Joseph Boachie’s first-half goal proved decisive at Garden Walk.

Boachie’s superb 25th minute strike settled a close game as the Brakes saw their winless run on the road extended to three games in all competitions.

And the result means Leamington sit eighth in the Southern League Premier Central table.

The Brakes almost took the lead early on as Royston goalkeeper Louis Chadwick somehow pushed Tyrone Barnett’s powerful header over the crossbar from Devon Kelly-Evans’ cross.

Leamington went close again soon after as Adam Walker’s low effort whistled past the post before Dan Meredith fired a shot straight at Chadwick.

However, Royston took the lead on 25 minutes when debutant Boachie curled a fine effort into the top-left corner and out of the reach of Brakes goalkeeper Callum Hawkins.

The home side dominated the remainder of the half and almost doubled their lead only for Jack Lane to head Ben De Lacy-Turner’s effort off the line.

Royston continued to impose themselves after the break as Samson Esan shot wide before Tsgium Guimdo Florian forced Hawkins into a save.

Paul Holleran’s side almost drew level with Barnett inches away from turning home Ewan Williams’s cross while Cally Stewart saw a shot deflected behind by Adam Murray.

And the Brakes were then denied by another fine Chadwick save as the Royston goalkeeper kept out Walker’s thunderous shot on the turn.

Hawkins denied Matt Bateman at the other end while Stewart curled a shot inches over the crossbar and then headed straight at the keeper soon after with the Brakes unable to find an equaliser.

Leamington are next in action away at Redditch United on Saturday, October 7 in the FA Trophy with kick-off at 3pm at The Valley Stadium.
