LEAMINGTON remain in the play-off places despite slipping to a 1-0 defeat at promotion rivals AFC Telford United.

The Brakes saw their five-game unbeaten run come to an end as Remi Walker’s 70th-minute goal settled the game at New Bucks Head.

And the result means Leamington sit fifth in the Southern League Premier Central table, inside the play-off places on goal difference.

The visitors forced Telford goalkeeper Brandon Hall into an early save as he kept out Jack Edwards’ low volley.

And Hall gathered another Edwards attempt from distance later in the half before Dan Meredith and Theo Streete bravely threw themselves in the way of shots at the other end.

Brakes goalkeeper Callum Hawkins denied Sam Whittall on the stroke of half time before Jordan Piggott sent an overhead kick narrowly past the post.

Walker then clipped the top of the crossbar with a free-kick from the left edge of the penalty area before Hawkins made a stunning reaction save to help Orrin Pendley’s effort onto the bar.

However, Walker eventually broke the deadlock with 20 minutes left to play when he curled a powerful shot into the top corner to leave Hawkins with no chance.

Leamington are next in action away at Stourbridge on Tuesday, April 9 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.
