LEAMINGTON suffered their heaviest defeat of the season after losing 5-0 away at play-off chasing Marine.

The Brakes shipped five goals at Rossett Park as Jack Hazlehurst, Matty McDonald, Joe Ashton, Charlie Jolley and Fin Sinclair-Smith all found the net.

And the result means Leamington sit 14 points from safety at the bottom of the National League North table.

Marine broke the deadlock after just six minutes when Hazlehurst finished a cross from the right high into the net at the back post.

And the home side doubled their lead on 37 minutes as substitute McDonald turned home a cross from the left at the near post.

The Mariners all but sealed the points on 61 minutes when Ashton saw his corner from the right travel over Rogan Ravenhill and directly into the net.

Marine struck again six minutes later as Jolley raced onto a ball in behind the Brakes defence and coolly finished past Ravenhill.

And the home side completed the rout on 72 minutes when Sinclair-Smith curled a shot into the top-right corner from the left-hand side of the penalty area.

Leamington are next in action against Spennymoor Town on Tuesday, Ferbuary 17 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.
