LEAMINGTON suffered a third straight defeat following a 2-0 home defeat against play-off hopefuls Spennymoor Town.

Goals either side of half time from Mackenzie Heaney and Glen Taylor put the visitors in command at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.

Spennymoor had Dan Jones sent off with just under 20 minutes left to play but the Brakes could not find a route back into the game.

The result means Leamington remain bottom of the National League North table, 14 points from safety.

Spennymoor broke the deadlock three minutes before half time when Heaney cut inside Josh Quaynor and fired a shot past Rogan Ravenhill into the far corner of the goal.

And the visitors doubled their lead on 63 minutes as Taylor finished high into the net when left unmarked at a corner.

The away side had Jones sent off on 71 minutes after he received a second yellow card for a challenge on Frank Tattum.

But the Brakes failed to seriously trouble Spennymoor goalkeeper Brad James in the remaining minutes.

Leamington are next in action against Chester on Saturday, February 21 with kick-off at 3pm at the Your Co-op Community Stadium.
