LEAMINGTON saw their winless run stretch to five matches in all competitions following a 2-0 defeat at high-flying Scarborough Athletic.

First-half goals from Harry Green and Stephen Walker condemned Paul Holleran’s side to defeat at the Mounting Systems Stadium.

The result means Leamington sit 16th in the National League North table.

Scarborough broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when Green squeezed a shot past Brakes goalkeeper Rogan Ravenhill after he could only parry Rio Allan’s initial effort into the scorer’s path.

And the home side doubled their lead on 32 minutes as Walker coolly found the net when one-on-one with Ravenhill from Will Thornton’s perfectly-weighted lofted through ball.

Brakes boss Holleran said: “I was a bit concerned coming into the game because obviously we’ve got a few players missing.

“Scarborough are a good side, we know that, and you could see it in the first half but our game management wasn’t enough.

“We desperately need to bolster the group with the injuries to Owen [Farmer] and to Ewan [Williams].

“And then you’re losing Tim Berridge, you’re losing Will [Shorrock] and Hisham [Chiha] too, so we’re up against it at the moment.

“We were well beaten but the first 20 minutes of the game, regardless of that, our shape off the ball just wasn’t quite there.

“I think it’s important now just to have a little reset. Can we get one or two back, can we get one or two in? I think we just need to enhance the group a little bit.

“We’re pretty close to doing a couple of things, which I think we need at the moment, and we’ll see where it takes us.”

Leamington are next in action against Darlington on Saturday, October 18 with kick-off at 3pm at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.
