FOOTBALL - Parsons at the double as Racers beat Swifts

JOSH Parsons continued his fine scoring form with a brace as Racing Club Warwick secured an impressive 2-0 win away at Worcestershire Senior Cup finalists Stourport Swifts.

Parsons struck in either half at Walshes Meadow to ensure Warwick remain third in the Midland Football League Premier Division table with one match left to play.

However, Lye Town’s win at Studley mathematically ended Warwick’s play-off chances although the Racers have still enjoyed a superb season.

Parsons opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Parsons dispossessed Stourport goalkeeper Josh Bishop and chipped the ball into an empty net from 25-yards out.

And Parsons scored his sixth goal in just four games to seal the points on 72 minutes when he fired the ball past Bishop from James Hancocks’ superb lobbed pass.

Warwick’s final home game of the season is free entry as the Racers entertain Highgate United on Saturday, April 22 with kick-off at 3pm at Townsend Meadow.
