RACING Club Warwick held league leaders Walsall Wood to a 1-1 draw in a game that was marred by a late brawl in which five red cards were shown as the Racers extended their unbeaten run to nine matches.

Kory Burke scored a second-half equaliser to cancel out Walsall’s fortuitous opener before a late challenge from Josh Parsons sparked a brawl at the death in a fiery affair at the Titan Recruitment Stadium.

The result means the Racers sit third in the Midland Football League Premier Division table, five points behind Walsall who have two games in hand.

Warwick started well as Parsons fired over the crossbar before Jai Verma’s cross-cum-shot deflected in off James Hancocks on 13 minutes to hand Walsall the lead.

Racing continued to test the Walsall goal as Connor Mort volleyed over but were unable to draw level before the break.

However, the visitors dominated second-half proceedings and were rewarded when Burke fired home from close range after Cal Templeton’s initial effort was blocked on the line from Callum Rudd’s long throw.

A feisty game ended with a series of red cards as Parsons was dismissed for a challenge that sparked a brawl with two Walsall players and manager Harry Harris sent off along with Warwick Coach Simon Rae.

Racing are next in action away at fellow promotion hopefuls Shifnal Town on Saturday, February 18 with kick-off at 2pm at the Acoustafoam Stadium.
