FOOTBALL - Racers thrash Stone to earn first away win in six

JOSH Parsons scored twice as Racing Club Warwick eased to a 4-0 win away at Stone Old Alleynians to secure a first victory on the road in six matches.

Parsons struck twice in the second half after Connor Mort opened the scoring whilst Kory Burke was also on target in an emphatic victory at Kings Park.

The result means Racing sit third in the Midland Football League Premier Division table, two points behind second-placed Lye Town who have a game in hand.

Warwick made a strong start as Mort’s long range header almost caught out the Stone goalkeeper before the same player headed narrowly wide from James Hancocks’ corner.

However, Racing opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Callum Rudd’s throw was flicked on by Archie Hamp and Mort stooped to head in at the far post.

The visitors doubled their lead on 53 minutes as Parsons picked up a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area and fired home via the aid of the post.

And Burke sealed the points on 68 minutes when he controlled Jay DLionga’s perfect cross and produced a cool finish

Parsons doubled his tally for the game just two minutes later when he finished into an empty net after Cameron Ebbutt’s pass was fumbled by Stone keeper Raajan Gill.

Racing are next in action away at Wolverhampton Casuals on Saturday, April 8 with kick-off at 3pm at Brinsford Lane.
