JOSH Parsons’ sublime goal helped Racing Club Warwick earn a hard-fought 1-0 win against league leaders March Town before thrashing Dudley Town 5-1 in the Birmingham Senior Cup.
Parsons scored the only goal against March to end Racing’s winless run before easing into the next round of the Senior Cup with back-to-back wins at Townsend Meadow.
The victory against March means Racing sit third in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, five points behind leaders Newport Pagnell Town.
Warwick goalkeeper Brad Catlow made a fine early save from Craig Gilles’ header against March before Jon Letford forced visiting keeper Jonah Gill into a double save at the other end.
However, Racing won the game with a moment of magic on 54 minutes as Parsons controlled James Hancocks’ pass on his chest before firing home into the corner on the turn.
Parsons went close to a second goal as only a fine save from Gill kept March in the contest as Catlow tipped a late Daniel Emmington free-kick over the bar to secure an impressive win for Warwick.
In midweek, the Racers showed their class to ease past Dudley in the Senior Cup as Callum Carsley scored a brace with Louis Monaghan, Cal Templeton and Charlie Jones all on target.
Warwick are next in action at home to Belper United on Saturday, October 7 in the United Counties League Cup with kick-off at 3pm at Townsend Meadow.
