RACING Club Warwick battled to a 2-1 victory against 10-man West Bromwich Albion to advance in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Goals from Tolani Omotola and Connor Mooney sealed Warwick’s place in the fourth round of the competition at Townsend Meadow.

An injury-time goal kept the Baggies in the contest before Josh Shaw saw red for visitors at the death.

The home side broke the deadlock after just nine minutes when Omotola found the net.

And the Racers doubled their lead on 71 minutes as Mooney’s powerful effort from just inside the penalty area proved too hot to handle for West Brom goalkeeper Joe Wallis.

The visitors scored a consolation goal three minutes into injury time before Shaw received a red card four minutes later as the Racers held on to book their place in round four.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Lye Town on Saturday, January 11 with kick-off at 3pm at the Sports Ground.
