RACING Club Warwick lost 2-1 against struggling Lye Town to suffer a third straight home defeat in all competitions.

The Racers briefly drew level courtesy of Louis Monaghan’s strike only for Dan Tozer to win the game for Lye in first-half injury time after Matt Gardner opened the scoring at Townsend Meadow.

And the result means Warwick sit 18th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table just one point above the relegation zone.

Lye took the lead on 28 minutes when Gardner finished Ewan Edwards’ cross from the left from six-yards out.

The Racers equalised four minutes before half time as Monaghan forced home Max McNulty’s low ball in from the right despite Lye furiously protesting that the ball had not crossed the line.

However, the visitors reclaimed the lead at the end of first period when Sam Lomax could only parry Tozer’s tame effort from just inside the penalty area into the net.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action away at Darlaston Town on Wednesday, October 9 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Paycare Stadium.
