RACING Club Warwick reignited their play-off hopes with a narrow 1-0 derby win away at Coventry Sphinx.
A second-half goal from James Harding settled the derby clash at the Cameron Slater Arena.
The result means Warwick sit eighth in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, six points outside of the play-off places.
And victory for the Racers saw recently-appointed joint managers Jack Edwards and Chris Knott continue their perfect start to life in the Townsend Meadow hotseat.
The Racers went close early on as Harding flicked a low ball in from the right into the side netting at the near post under pressure in the box.
Warwick goalkeeper Tom Allsopp then kept out Isa Abrahamu’s powerful effort after the Racers coughed up possession deep inside their own half.
However, the visitors broke the deadlock after the break on 52 minutes when Harding steered a dropping ball into the bottom right corner on the volley after Sphinx failed to deal with a cross from the right.
Warwick spurned a golden chance to double their lead as Aaron Opoku headed Callum Coyle’s floated cross from the right over the crossbar from close range.
And the Racers also comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to stretch their unbeaten run to three matches.
Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Mickleover on Saturday, March 21 with kick-off at 3pm at the Don Amott Arena.
