RACING Club Warwick snapped their five-game losing streak in the league with a dominant 4-1 win against Basford United.

Goals from Kyle Barnett, James Hancocks, Callum Coyle and Cameron Ebbutt sealed a comfortable win for the Racers at Townsend Meadow.

And the result means Warwick sit 21st in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, one point from safety in the relegation zone.

The Racers took the lead five minutes before half time when Barnett headed in Ebbutt’s corner from the left from close range.

And the home side doubled their lead in first-half injury time as Hancoks volleyed in Ebbutt’s cross from the right from point-blank range at the back post.

Warwick all but sealed the points on 52 minutes when Coyle drilled a shot through the legs of Basford goalkeeper Matthew Yates after good work from Archie Hamp down the right.

And the hosts extended their lead four minutes later as James Harding flicked the ball into the path of Ebbutt who directed a volley into the bottom right corner from 12-yards out.

Basford scored a consolation goal on the hour mark when Jack Goodman chested down a long ball and coolly found the net.

However, the Racers comfortably saw out the remaining half-hour to secure their first home league win of the season.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Carlton Town on Tuesday, September 30 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Townsend Meadow.
