RACING Club Warwick exited the FA Cup at the extra preliminary round stage following a 4-1 defeat against Hednesford Town.
The Racers briefly drew level courtesy of Louis Monaghan’s equaliser only for Hednesford to strike twice either side of half time at Townsend Meadow.
Warwick and Hednesford both play at Step Four with the latter side plying their trade in the Northern Premier League West division.
The visitors took the lead on 26 minutes when Jake Jervis finished Manny Duku’s cross from close range.
However, the Racers equalised two minutes later as Monaghan produced an excellent flicked finish into the bottom right corner from Archie Hamp’s cross.
Hednesford reclaimed the lead straight from kick-off when Abdulrasaq Alamu-Tajudeen slipped in Duku who coolly finished past Sam Lomax.
The away side extended their lead on 79 minutes as substutute Jacob Gwilt finished high into the net after Lomax superbly kept out Zidan Sutherland’s initial effort.
And the Pitmen completed the scoring on 86 minutes when Kory Roberts fired a low effort into the bottom left corner after the Racers failed to clear their lines.
Warwick begin their league campaign against Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday, August 10 with kick-off at 3pm at the Boldmere Community Stadium.
