RACING Club Warwick came from behind to secure a remarkable 8-2 win against Bugbrooke St Michaels and move top of the table.

Luke Shearer and Louis Monaghan both scored twice while James Hancocks, Josh Parsons, Cameron Ebbutt and Josh Beeson all found the net at Townsend Meadow.

And after scoring seven second-half goals, Warwick top the United Counties League Premier Division South table by a single point although closest rivals Wellingborough Town have two games in-hand.

The home side broke the deadlock on 18 minutes as Shearer finished into an empty net from Monaghan’s sublime backheel pass.

However, Bugbrooke equalised on 26 minutes when Levon Stewart turned the ball home from close range.

And Stewart struck again five minutes later, rolling the ball past Brad Catlow, despite appearing to be in an offside position.

Warwick drew level one minute into the second period as Shearer’s low effort deflected into the bottom right corner and out of the reach of Bugbrooke goalkeeper Luke Reeve.

Racing completed the turnaround on 59 minutes when Hancocks placed a low shot into the bottom left corner from 15-yards out.

And the home side struck again two minutes later as Parsons smashed a first time effort into the roof of the net from Callum Carsley’s cutback.

Warwick sealed the points in style on 83 minutes as Monaghan produced an audacious lob from 25-yards out after spotting Reeve off his line.

The Racers made it six less than a minute later as substitute Beeson headed home Jay DLionga’s cross from the right from six-yards out.

Warwick struck again on 86 minutes as Ebbutt lashed a venomous first time shot past Reeve from just inside the penalty area after Bugbrooke failed to clear their lines at a corner.

And Racing completed the scoring on 88 minutes as Monaghan rolled the ball into an empty net after Reeve denied Shearer when one-on-one.

Warwick are next in action against Birmingham City on Tuesday, December 12 in the Birmingham Senior Cup with kick-off at 7.45pm at Townsend Meadow.
