RACING Club Warwick remain winless on the road following a 3-1 defeat at Worcester City.

The Racers kept themselves in the game courtesy of Ben Edmunds’ goal just before the hour mark before a late Callum Carsley own goal ensured the visitors left Claines Lane empty-handed.

And the result means Warwick sit 17th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table.

The visitors fell behind on 24 minutes when Elliott Hartley smashed home Jordan Lymn’s driven ball across goal.

Warwick almost drew level at the end of the first half only to hit the crossbar from a corner as the Racers went into the break a goal behind.

And Worcester doubled their lead on 51 minutes when Hartley stole the ball off Warwick goalkeeper Sam Lomax and squared for Kyle Belmonte to apply the finish.

The Racers halved the deficit eight minutes later as Edmunds headed in at the back post to keep the visitors in the contest.

And Racing almost drew level with 10 minutes left to play as Carsley pulled a shot inches past the post.

Worcester sealed the points in injury time, moments after Belmonte hit the post, as Carsley turned the ball into his own net after Lomax saved Liam Lockett’s initial effort.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action at home to Sporting Khalsa on Saturday, August 24 with kick-off at 3pm at Townsend Meadow.
