ARCHIE Hamp’s late goal earned Racing Club Warwick a point in a 1-1 draw away at Mickleover despite playing the majority of the second half with 10-men.

Hamp levelled the game on 89 minutes after Manni Norkett had put the home side ahead on 74 minutes at the Don Amott Arena.

The goals came after Warwick striker Aaron Opoku saw red on 49 minutes after he received a second yellow card for a late challenge.

And the result means the Racers sit eighth in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, five points outside of the play-off places.

The game turned four minutes after the break when Opoku saw red after he caught a Mickleover defender with a late tackle as the latter attempted to clear.

However, despite playing with a man less, the Racers went close when Cameron Ebbutt embarked on a mazy run only for Jay Alexander to deny the midfielder.

Mickleover eventually made the extra man count on 74 minutes when Stuart Beavon’s cross from the left bounced in the box and Norkett headed in from six-yards out.

The home side almost doubled their lead when substitute Josh Carter latched onto a through ball only to curl a shot inches past the post on the turn.

And Carter spurned another golden chance to put the game to bed when he sliced wide from 10-yards out with the goal at his mercy.

Racers goalkeeper Tom Allsopp then made a crucial stop low down to his right to tip Norkett’s first time effort inside the box behind for a corner.

However, Warwick snatched a point at the death after Alexander denied Callum Coyle when one-on-one as Hamp slammed the loose ball into an empty net.

And the visitors had a chance to take all three points in injury time as James Harding curled a free-kick inches over the crossbar from 20-yards out.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Corby Town on Wednesday, March 25 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Steel Park.
