CAMERON Ebbutt’s goal helped Racing Club Warwick return to winning ways with a 1-0 victory against Mickleover.

Ebbutt’s clever flick in the second half settled the contest at Townsend Meadow as the Racers stretched their unbeaten run at home to six matches in all competitions.

The result means Warwick sit 14th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, three points clear of the relegation zone.

Mickleover created the game’s first chance as Thabang Dube drove into the penalty area and saw his effort saved behind by Sam Lomax at his near post.

From the resulting corner, Lomax sprung to his left to push Ali Mohiuddin’s effort from 20-yards out to safety.

At the other end, the Racers went close from a corner of their own as Kyle Barnett headed against the post from close range at the back post.

Lomax kept out another Dube effort following a counter attack as Josiah Dyer blazed the rebound over the crossbar with the goal at his mercy.

The Racers almost broke the deadlock shortly before the break when James Hancocks headed a cross from the right inches over the crossbar at the back post when left unmarked in the box.

Mickleover pressed for the opening goal after the break as Lomax made a diving stop to deny Dyer before Andy Dales headed against the post from close range.

However, the Racers eventually broke the deadlock on 71 minutes when Ebbutt skilfully flicked Callum Coyle’s low ball in from the left into the bottom right corner.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Stourbridge in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday, November 11 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Townsend Meadow.
