RACING Club Warwick suffered a shock 4-2 defeat away at relegation-threatened Leicester Nirvana in a blow to the Racers title hopes.

Warwick trailed by two goals at the break as Simeon Cobourne and Kory Burke twice reduced the deficit to a single goal only for the home side to seal the points at the death at Hamilton Park.

The result means the Racers sit third in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, eight points behind leaders Wellingborough Town with a game in-hand.

Against Nirvana, first-half goals from Daryl Russell and Tamar Clayton-Naute left Warwick with a mountain to climb at the interval.

However, Cobourne responded for the Racers shortly after half time as Gregory Mills restored Leicester’s two-goal lead before Burke kept Warwick in the contest with a goal on 74 minutes.

The home side eventually sealed the points in the final minute when Lynas King found the net as the Racers suffered a first league defeat in 12 matches.

Racing are next in action against Daventry Town on Saturday, March 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Townsend Meadow.
