RACING Club Warwick secured a fourth straight win in the league with a 2-1 victory away at 10-man St Neots Town.

Goals from James Harding and Dylan Barkers put the Racers in command at the break before James Stainsby halved the deficit for the home side in the second half at Kester Way.

However, the visitors held on to secure four wins in a row for the first time this season while St Neots had defender Charlie Bowen sent off deep into injury time.

The result means Warwick sit seventh in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, two points outside of the play-off places.

St Neots went close early on as Racers goalkeeper Tom Allsopp made a superb save from point-blank range to push Rhys Thorpe’s volley over the crossbar.

And the Racers won a penalty at the other end when Archie Hamp went down in the box over the outstretched leg of Bowen and the referee pointed to the spot.

Harding duly stepped up and put the visitors ahead on 25 minutes as he sent St Neots goalkeeper James Goff the wrong way with an effort into the left side of the goal.

And Warwick doubled their lead five minutes before half time when Barkers volleyed a dropping ball past Goff from just inside the penalty area with the St Neots stopper only able to push the effort into the top-right corner of the net.

St Neots looked for a response after the break as Thorpe dragged a shot narrowly wide of goal when off balance from a tight angle in the penalty area.

The home side halved the deficit on 67 minutes when substitute Stainsby headed in Thorpe’s cross from six-yards out.

However, the hosts played the final moments with 10-men when Bowen received his marching orders as the Racers held firm to claim back-to-back away wins for the first time this campaign.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Rugby Town on Saturday, December 6 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
