RACING Club Warwick saw their three-game winning run come to an end following a 3-0 defeat away at Loughborough Students.

The Racers conceded three second-half goals as Joshua Strouts, Halim Bangura and Hussein Issa all found the net at Loughborough University Stadium.

And the result means Warwick sit 11th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, seven points outside of the play-off places.

After a goalless first period, Loughborough broke the deadlock on the hour mark as Strouts finished from close range with Sam Lomax only able to parry substitute Marcus Gilpin’s shot into the scorer’s path.

The Racers almost drew level when Martin Slevin shifted the ball into the path of Harry Eden who saw his low effort from the edge of the penalty area saved by Students goalkeeper Luke Skinner.

And the visitors went close again as substitute Andre Williams headed a cross from the left over the crossbar from six-yards out.

The away side continued to search for a leveller as a long throw from the left lead to a game of head tennis in the box which ended with Williams’ effort clipping the top of the crossbar.

However, Loughborough doubled their lead on 81 minutes as Bangura fired a first time shot into the bottom left corner after Ryan Andrews’ misplaced pass handed the Students possession deep inside the Warwick half.

The visitors spurned a golden chance to halve the deficit when Connor Taylor flicked the ball into the path of Williams only for Skinner to deny the striker when one-on-one inside the box.

And the home side sealed the points in the final minute as Issa weaved his way into the box before coolly finding the bottom right corner.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Darlaston Town on Saturday, February 1 with kick-off at 3pm at Townsend Meadow.
