FOOTBALL - Racing Club Warwick slip to draw at relegation-threatened Haughmond

Leamington Editorial 11th Apr, 2022   0

DYLAN PARKER scored a sensational 40-yard equaliser to help Racing Club Warwick secure a point as the Racers were held to a 1-1 draw by Haughmond.

The home side led at half time only for Parker’s speculative effort to ensure the spoils were shared at Shrewsbury Sports Village.

And the result leaves Warwick in 14th place in the Midland Football League Premier Division table.

The Racers started the better of the two teams when Romario Martin fired a free kick narrowly over before Joe Pratt flashed an effort wide at the other end.

And the teams continued to trade chances when Hanibal Sallami shot straight at Haughmond goalkeeper Ross Bebb before the home side opened the scoring through Pratt’s cool finish from Josh Thomas’s pass.

Racing dominated the second period and eventually grabbed a deserved equaliser when Parker’s 40-yard effort from the far touchline sailed into the net.

The visitors had chances to snatch the points late on with Sallami seeing two efforts blocked before Connor Mort was unable to finish at the death.

Warwick are next in action at home to Stone Old Alleynians on Saturday, April 16 with entry free for all, kick-off is at the earlier time of 1pm at Townsend Meadow.
