RACING Club Warwick lost 2-1 at home against rivals Rugby Town to suffer a fifth straight league defeat.
A late consolation goal from Aaron Opoku proved in vain after strikes from Rivel Mardenborough and Cairo Taylor put Valley in command at Townsend Meadow.
The result leaves Warwick in the Northern Premier League Midlands relegation zone, three points from safety.
Rugby broke the deadlock on 31 minutes when Mardenborough ran onto a loose ball in the box and poked a shot through the legs of Sam Lomax from close range.
And Valley doubled their lead just past the hour mark on 62 minutes as Taylor looped a superb effort over Lomax from 15-yards out.
Warwick won a penalty in the final minute as Opoku sent Marcus Bald the wrong way from the spot.
However, the Racers did not have enough time to find an equaliser as Scott Easterlow’s side failed to end their losing run in the league.
Racing Club Warwick host Basford United on Saturday, September 27 with kick-off at 3pm at Townsend Meadow.
