RACING Club Warwick lost 2-1 against Sutton Coldfield Town to suffer their first league defeat of the season.

Sutton scored two quickfire goals after the break to take command of the game at Townsend Meadow.

Racers goalkeeper Sam Lomax saved a penalty soon after before Aaron Opoku halved the deficit.

However, Warwick could not find an equaliser in the remaining minutes.

The result means the Racers sit 10th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table.

Sutton broke the deadlock on the hour mark when Ryan Edmunds finished from the penalty spot following a handball in the box.

And the visitors doubled their lead six minutes later as Sam Smith flicked a corner from the left into the right corner of the net at the near post.

The away side won a second penalty soon after only for Lomax to deny Edmunds a second goal from the spot, diving to his right.

And the Racers halved the deficit on 71 minutes when Opoku placed a first time finish into the bottom left corner from 12-yards out.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday, August 23 with kick-off at 3pm at the Dovecote Stadium.
