RACING Club Warwick suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat away at Wellingborough Town as the Racers failed to score for the third game in a row.

The Racers also slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season at the Dog and Duck Ground.

And the result means Warwick sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, three points above the relegation zone.

Wellingborough broke the deadlock on 25 minutes when Jordan Graham finished well on the turn into the bottom left corner from 15-yards out.

And the hosts doubled their lead on 34 minutes as Jessie Obeng turned the ball home from close range after Sam Lomax could only parry an effort from distance into the scorer’s path.

The home side struck again three minutes later when Will Jones powered a shot through Warwick goalkeeper Lomax from 10-yards out.

And Wellingborough scored a fourth goal in the space of 20 minutes as Jack O’Connor powerfully headed in Joe Curtis’s floated free-kick in first-half injury time.

Wellingborough added some gloss to the scoreline at the death as substitute Neo Richard-Noel headed in a corner at the near post.

Racing Club Warwick are next in action against Hinckley LRFC on Tuesday, October 22 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Townsend Meadow.
