RACING Club Warwick saw their remarkable 14-game winning run at home come to an end following a 1-1 draw with GNG Oadby Town.

The Racers came from behind to secure a point as Louis Monaghan’s acrobatic finish cancelled out Suleiman Nassor’s opener at Townsend Meadow.

And the result means Warwick sit second in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, one point behind leaders Wellingborough Town who have a game in-hand.

The draw also brings an end to Racing’s sensational run of 14 straight wins at home in all competitions dating back to September last year.

Oadby took the lead on the half-hour mark as Nassor pounced on Jay DLionga’s short pass before driving into the box and finishing through the legs of Warwick goalkeeper Sam Lomax.

However, the Racers equalised three minutes before the break when Monaghan volleyed home from six-yards out after James Hancocks kept the ball alive at the back post.

Warwick were unable to find a winner despite creating a number of chances as the home side lost ground on title rivals Wellingborough.

And the club will be without top scorer Josh Parsons for the rest of the season after the Racing striker suffered an ACL injury having scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 30 appearances this term.

Racers boss Scott Easterlow said: “It is not ideal to lose your top scorer at the business end of the season, I feel for Josh as I felt he was hitting form at just the right time for us.

“We haven’t had much luck this season as he joins a list of four or five important players that we are missing through long term injuries.

“Every side picks up injuries but to get so many long term ones is tough but it’s not a time to feel sorry for ourselves.

“We’re fighting on three fronts for trophies so we need others to step up and we will try add another goalscorer to help share the load.”

The club also confirmed the departures of Oakley Hazell, Josh Beeson and Syrus Warren-Paul with all three players leaving in search of regular first team football.

Warwick are next in action away at Newport Pagnell Town on Saturday, February 3 with kick-off at 3pm at Willen Road.
