A FRIST-HALF brace from Archie Hamp helped Racing Club Warwick to a huge 5-0 win against Cogenhoe United as the Racers moved up to second in the table.

Hamp’s goals settled the game before half time after Josh Parsons opened the scoring before James Hancocks and Louis Monaghan found the net in the second half at Townsend Meadow.

Warwick then secured a 2-0 win against Solihull Moors in the Birmingham Senior Cup as two second-half goals from Monaghan sent the Racers into the third round of the competition.

And victory in the league means Racing sit second in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, seven points behind leaders Wellingborough Town with a game in-hand.

Against Cogenhoe, the Racers took the lead on 13 minutes when Parsons lashed the ball home at the near post from Charlie Jones’s pass.

And Warwick doubled their lead on 39 minutes as Hamp curled a shot into the left corner of the goal after Cogenhoe failed to clear their lines.

The home side made it three before the interval as Hamp headed in Ryan Quinn’s corner at the near post on 41 minutes to all but seal the points.

And the Racers struck again shortly after half time as Hancocks finished in off the post on 48 minutes after Cogenhoe were caught in possession inside their own penalty area.

Racing completed the scoring on 62 minutes when Monaghan’s precise first time effort from the edge of the penalty area found the bottom right corner.

And Monaghan then struck twice in midweek, as the Racers advanced in the Senior Cup, scoring on 60 and 89 minutes to seal victory against a youthful Moors side.

Warwick are next in action at home to Histon FC on Saturday, November 18 with kick-off at 3pm at Townsend Meadow.
