FOOTBALL - Second-half goals help Racing Club Warwick past Daventry

Leamington Editorial 25th Mar, 2024   0

RACING Club Warwick returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Daventry Town to keep their slim title hopes alive.

Second-half goals from Kory Burke and Archie Hamp earned the Racers all three points at Townsend Meadow.

And the result means Warwick sit second in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, eight points behind leaders Wellingborough Town with a game in-hand.

The Racers broke the deadlock on 55 minutes when Burke headed home Harry Sawyer’s cross from the right from five-yards out.

And Racing sealed the points on 63 minutes as substitute Hamp glanced home Cameron Ebbutt’s corner from the left from inside the six-yard box.

Warwick are next in action at home to Leamington on Tuesday, March 26 in the semi-finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup with kick-off at 7.45pm at Townsend Meadow.
