A TALENTED seven-year-old from Leamington has signed for the academy of Women’s Super League club Leicester City.

After training with the club since January this year, Paisley May Griffin accepted a place in Leicester’s academy for the 2024/25 season.

Paisley impressed playing for local club Upper Lighthorne and attended sessions at SS Coaching academy from the age of three-years-old.

Her father Dan said: “Her desire to always have a football at her feet is second to none and something I pray she does not lose.

“She’s incredibly lucky to be given this opportunity and one she definitely will not throw away. The hard work starts now.”

SS Coaching added: “From tots football sessions at the age of three to now signing a contract for Leicester, Paisley is now a Fox.

“Keep playing with a big smile on your face, keep celebrating every goal and keep up the hard work.

“A true bundle of joy to coach, a great little footballer and a star in the making.”

Her club Upper Lighthorne said: “We want to send a massive congratulations to Paisley, who has been signed on to the Leicester City Girls Academy setup.

“Paisley played for our under-9s Valiants last season at under-8s, playing up an age group. She started with the club doing our mini’s session and also played locally in the boys league.

“Paisley had a fantastic season with the girls, picking up many player of the match awards and an end of season trophy.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for her and we couldn’t be prouder after all the hard work she put in. She’s been a pleasure to coach and we can’t wait to follow her football journey over the next few years.”

She scored a remarkable 50 goals in her first competitive season playing for Upper Lighthorne under-8s in the Central Warwickshire Girls Football League – playing a year above her age group.

Paisley also won a Wolves Festival competition in November 2023 and the Sky Blues in the Community Summer Cup last month.

Leicester spotted Paisley in January earlier this year and the club quickly offered her a place in their under-10s side.
