WARWICK’S third XI earned just their second win of the season at the weekend, surprising Bromsgrove Seconds with a 4-2 win in South West Premier.
Taking a 3-0 lead through John Sawdon’s wonder goal and a brace from Miles Cook, a strong second half followed where Hugh Lazenby cancelled out a Bromsgrove goal.
Although the victory does not lift them off the bottom of the table, it takes them to within reach of their two nearest relegation rivals – Stourport Thirds and Worcester Thirds – who are both two points ahead on eight points.
A third successive win was recorded in style by Warwick Fifths against Northampton Saints Sixths.
The 6-2 win, courtesy of Kelvin Morris (2), Martin Reeves, Jem Teasdale, Ed Stanley and Dave Bray goals, helps eighth-placed Warwick to start looking up at the sides above them.
Leaders Warwick Thirds show no sign of letting up in Division Three of the Warwickshire Women’s League, after a 2-0 win at Atherstone Seconds.
Strikes from Celine Duijzers and Liz Holding helped keep Warwick six points clear of Old Silhillians Seconds, who recorded a 5-0 rout over Stratford Thirds on Saturday.
