Future boxing stars recognised by Sikh community centre

BOXING: TWO promising young boxers have had their hard work recognised by the Sikh Sports and Community Centre.

Nick Leahy and Simon Huruska were presented with awards to highlight their attitude and attendance at Fitzpatrick’s Boxing Gym, which is based at the community centre.

Coaches Derek Fitzpatrick, Babs Kandola and Tommy Pender chose the pair following an outstanding season in and outside of the ring.

Kandola said: “Simon is ready to open his competitive account. We decided to give him this award to highlight his commitment.

“I’m very excited to see what he can produce in the future.

“Nick meanwhile has become an inspirational figure at the club and someone the younger boxers can look up to.

“It’s great the Sikh community has recognised the hard work of these two youngsters.”
