Kenilworth Masters make a splash at British National Long Course Championships

TWO British records were claimed by Kenilworth Masters Swimming Club last weekend, when competing in the British National Long Course Championships in Swansea.

Alistair Knight, Robert Robson, James Wardle and Neal Smith shaved three seconds off the 4 x 50m medley record in the 160 years age category – consisting of the group’s combined ages – to set a new record of 1:50.97.

The feat broke the previous time which had stood for seven years prior, and the group immediately set another record just a day later.

On Sunday afternoon, Kenilworth sought to break their own record in the 4 x 100m medley, and did just that, thanks to a strong start by Knight, followed by impressive speed displayed by Robson, Wardle and Smith.

The new record of 4:10.52 in the Championships completed a successful weekend for the club, who now train ahead of the short course nationals in Sheffield in October.
