Kenilworth no match for Highways Spartans

KENILWORTH were resoundingly beaten by 133-runs by Highways Spartans in Warwickshire League Division One.

Highway won the toss and chose to bat first.

Opener martin Ivory got his side off to a solid start, making 34 at the fall of the first wicket of Matt McCarthy (14).

lvory was joined by Steve Abbey who made a brisk 40.




Highway maintained a decent flow to their innings, built around a solid 57 not out from Amandeep Hallat as the hosts finished on 243-8 from their 50 overs.

After the tea interval, openers Dave Edmunds and Pete Magafas went about the task of chasing down the target.


The pair put on 32 for the first wicket before Edmunds was dismissed for 17.

Henry Curran joined skipper Magafas but he fell for 11.

Magafas was to top score for the visitors with 31 as wickets began to fall.

Home spinner McCarthy wreaked havoc with the ball, taking 5-15 while Josh Bains chipped in with 4-42 as Kenilworth were skittled out for 110 inside 27 overs.

Kenilworth take on Dunlop Stars on Saturday.
