Lammyman on form to record first-ever race win for RLSCC

FRANCES Lammyman recorded her first-ever win in the women’s race at the Milton Keynes Points Chaser on Saturday.

The Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club rider edged fellow category three rider Amelia Harper by just 0.23 seconds to cross the finish line in first in a time of 1:01:47.20.

After starting the race at the back with intentions of conserving energy, Lammyman, with fellow RLSCC rider Helena Coker in tow, sped off towards the front of the pack ten minutes into the race.

Lammyman then raced into the lead after a successful break-away attempt, with Coker keeping the chasing pack in line, as the pair continued to hold position for the majority of the race.

But with the majority of the race still to be contested, Lammyman eventually dropped back with the rest of the riders, where she stayed as the number of remaining laps began to dwindle.

Then, with 500m of the race remaining, two riders made a break for the front, one which Lammyman decided to join despite having to take on a final incline towards the finish.

Digging deep, the RLSCC rider out-sprinted Harper at the last to win the race, to her clear jubilation.
