BOXING: FITZPATRICKS boxer Nick Leahy secured his place at this weekend’s Midland Final following an impressive victory against Staffordshire-based Israr Qumar.
In what proved to be Leahy’s toughest bout to date, the Warwick-based fighter won by an unanimous decision.
Fitzpatricks coach Babs Kandola said: “Nick had to dig in and not only box but also fight when called upon.
“Israr didn’t make it easy and credit to him for playing his part in a hard fought contest.
“This is one of the most contested categories in this year’s senior development championship and Nick is the last Warwickshire man standing.
“He’ll wear the Warwick vest with pride.”
Leahy’s Midland Final bout takes place this Sunday.
