LEAMINGTON Paralympian Melanie Barratt will share her inspirational story at two free online events next month.

Barratt is a five-time Paralympic medallist after winning two gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal in swimming at the Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.

And Barratt also set eight world records in a glittering career which featured multiple European and World titles.

Following her success in the pool, Barratt became world paratriathlon champion in 2008.

She also became the first blind person to swim across the English Channel in September last year – raising funds for British Blind Sport in the process.

Barratt is the next speaker in the National Paralympic Heritage Trust’s (NPHT) ‘Meet the Paralympian’ event series.

She hopes her story will inspire others to push their own boundaries and achieve their dreams.

The NPHT are inviting adults, universities, clubs and schools to join free online events to listen to Barratt’s story.

The online event takes place on Friday, March 21 with the event split into two sessions.

The first session runs from 11am to 11.45am and is open to primary schools and home-educated children.

And the second session runs from 1pm to 1.45pm for adults, secondary schools and university pupils.
