A LEAMINGTON resident has been honoured for 20 years of service to Leamington Lawn Tennis & Squash Club at the Warwickshire Lawn Tennis Association awards recently.

Nick Seale, who has worked with the club since October 1999, was awarded the Volunteer of the Year trophy to commemorate his years of service.

He has run the monthly singles tennis ladders at the club ever since joining, allowing for competitive action for over 90 players across a range of ages and abilities on a regular basis.

The system was completely paper-based when he took over before the turn of the Millennium, but he has enabled to club to run the system electronically – making it a simple task for members to access.

Janette George, who is chairwoman at the club, holds Nick in the highest regard, and believes he could not be more worthy of the accolade.

“Nick has played a huge part in the success and growth of our friendly club over the last 20 years, and I’m delighted his efforts have now been formally acknowledged.

“Nick manages the competition every month, with a great deal of charm and a very welcoming smile and these days, he doesn’t even play in the ladder, so there is no real personal benefit to him!

“He simply does it for the love of the game.”

Interested players who want to visit the club’s facilities and hear about what is offered are asked to call Cheryl Doshi – club manager – on 01926 425845.
