Let's kick on in 2021/22 - Shipley

Leamington Editorial 4th May, 2021   0

MIDFIELDER Jordan Shipley admits he is already looking ahead to the return of the Coventry City faithful at the Ricoh Arena in the 2021/22 season.

With just one further fixture remaining this term, in the form of a final St Andrew’s home game versus Millwall on Saturday, the 23-year-old is in fine spirits – not least after netting the go-ahead goal in last weekend’s eventual 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town – Shipley’s second Championship goal this term.

And going into a weekend when City could finish as high as 15th in the table, the Coventry man is keen to kick on and finish the campaign on a positive note – from a team and personal perspective.

“A draw away from home isn’t bad considering the performances away from home this season, and it is good to end the season on a high.

“Our target was to stay up, we achieved that with two games to go. Moving forward it is about me getting in the team and earning my place again.

“It has been tough, as it was in our first season in League One – I was in and out and towards the end of that [campaign].

“Hopefully next season we can kick on and do what we did in League One in the Championship.

“I think that is what everyone is excited for going back to the Ricoh Arena and hopefully we can pack that out and we can bring some joy back to Coventry fans.”
